Itineraries
What to do in Quindío in 3 days: a day-by-day itinerary

Got a long weekend for Quindío? Three days are enough to experience the best of the Coffee Region without rushing. This itinerary blends nature, coffee and towns, and is easy to adapt to your pace and budget.
Day 1 · Salento and the Cocora Valley
Wake up early and take a Willys jeep from Salento’s square to the Cocora Valley. Do the route you prefer (short to the viewpoint or the full loop with Acaime) and return to town for a trout lunch. In the afternoon, walk down Calle Real, climb to the Salento viewpoint and enjoy a specialty coffee.
Day 2 · Coffee tour and Filandia
In the morning visit a coffee farm and experience the bean-to-cup process with a cupping. In the afternoon, go to Filandia: climb its 360° viewpoint, explore the historic center and have dinner at one of its produce-driven restaurants. Filandia is quieter than Salento and perfect to end the day unhurried.
Day 3 · Pick a theme park
Spend the last day at a park based on your interest:
- Coffee Park (Montenegro): rides, cable car and coffee culture, great for families.
- PANACA (Quimbaya): the agricultural park with animal shows.
- Botanical Garden & Butterfly House (Calarcá): nature and one of the largest butterfly houses in the world.
Check each park’s official website for hours before you go.
Where to stay
For this itinerary it’s best to stay in Salento or Filandia for the town atmosphere, or use Armenia/Calarcá as a central base for the parks. Options range from glampings and coffee farms to backpacker hostels. In high season, book weeks ahead.
Budget and tips
- Transport: jeeps and buses between towns are cheap; a car adds flexibility.
- Cash: essential at farms, eateries and for the jeeps.
- Booking: coffee tours and parks are best booked ahead in high season.
- Pace: don’t try to cram everything into one day; Quindío’s charm is in taking it slow.
